ForFarmers and Agrifirm Plant combine strengths through means of strategic partnership in the area of fertilisers, sowing seeds and crop protection

On 17 December 2014, Agrifirm Plant and ForFarmers signed an agreement pertaining to the knowledge and purchase of artificial fertilisers, crop protection products and sowing seeds. ForFarmers and Agrifirm Plant want to combine the purchase and knowledge of the above-referenced products. The motivation, among other things, is that both companies jointly perceive better opportunities in a supplier’s market that involves very large international players.

The agreement pertains to the purchase of fertilisers effective 1 July 2015 and sowing seeds (grass, corn, cereals and green manure crops) and crop protection products effective 1 January 2016. ForFarmers and Agrifirm expect to be able to reinforce their position on the international purchase market by combining their purchases. In addition, the partners will be reinforcing each other in relation to the exchange of knowledge.

For ForFarmers this step fits into its strategy of selecting a number of strategic partners for its total feed business concept. For Agrifirm this step is a key component in its strategy of growing its core activities. The purchase and delivery of products to the plant sector is one of the four strategic pillars, aside from animal feeds, co-products and specialties.

Agrifirm and ForFarmers are both convinced that this partnership in the area of purchasing and the exchange of knowledge will benefit their customers.

The partnership is exclusively limited to purchasing and the exchange of knowledge. Agrifirm and ForFarmers will continue to completely independently operate and compete in the market. This will not change in relation to the current situation. ForFarmers, as well as Agrifirm, will continue to carry an entirely own product range.
