Agreement supports mutual commitments to developing more sustainable, deforestation-free and low-carbon supply chains.
Bunge, a premier agribusiness solutions company connecting farmers to consumers of food, feed and fuel, and ForFarmers, a European livestock feed company active in Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Poland, today announced a strategic agreement aimed at improving sustainability within the soybean meal supply chain in Europe. The companies signed an agreement to establish a low-carbon soybean meal flow starting with the Netherlands.
The supply agreement requires Bunge to supply close to 100,000 metric tons soybean meal to ForFarmers from various origins. Brazilian Soybeans will be sourced from farms participating in regenerative agriculture programs grown with sustainable farming practices and meeting Bunge’s standards for deforestation-free sourcing.
ForFarmers will receive supply chain traceability and verified carbon footprint calculations through blockchain technology, providing transparency on the flow from its origin to its destination.
“We are pleased to partner with Bunge on this initiative. It aligns perfectly with our sustainability strategy and our mission: 'For the Future of Farming'. By sourcing low-carbon, deforestation-free soy from regenerative agriculture, we actively reduce the environmental impact of our supply chain. Traceability adds transparency and the regenerative agriculture program empowers farmers to make sustainable choices that support both their business and societal expectations. This collaboration is a strong example of how we work with partners to build a more sustainable agri-food chain.”
Bunge is already implementing sustainable agriculture practices throughout its supply chains, aiming to safeguard the environment, preserve biodiversity and respect human rights.
“We are excited to expand our collaboration with ForFarmers and support the transition to more sustainable feed supply chains. This partnership is a fundamental step in providing low-carbon product and solutions that meet the specific demands of our markets. Together with our customers and partners, we are doing our part to build more transparent, traceable soy flows. We believe this is a collective journey, alongside customers and producers, to build safer, more transparent, and traceable chains.”
The ForFarmers collaboration is the latest example of how Bunge is working to build value chains that are integrated from farm to consumer, traceable and verifiable, and have a positive impact on the planet.
