ForFarmers takes transparency on sustainability for granted. Regarding sustainability, we report in accordance with CSRD and our CO2 emission reduction targets have been reviewed by SBTi.

Besides transparency, good governance is crucial for our sustainability performance. ForFarmers has an ESG Advisory Board with external experts from the chain. This sustainability advisory board meets at least twice a year to discuss sustainability at ForFarmers and in the chain.
There is also an internal task force with internal specialists for the environmental objectives and an internal task force for monitoring the social and governance objectives.

ESG Advisory Board

Our Advisory Board, led by ForFarmers' CEO, consists of experts from the retail, NGO, academic, agricultural and research sectors, complemented by ForFarmers' Director of Sustainability and Director of Corporate Affairs.

  • ForFarmers: Pieter Wolleswinkel (CEO and chairman of the Advisory Board), Ilse Niehof-Duivelshof (Corporate Affairs Director) en Henry Verwaijen (ESG Director)
  • Alex Datema (Rabobank)
  • Prof. Dr. Ir. Leo den Hartog
  • Dr. Sanne Griffioen-Roose (FrieslandCampina)
  • Marc Jansen (Centraal Bureau Levensmiddelenhandel (Central Food Trade Office))

Internal task force

Our internal task force on environmental, social and governance objectives consists of members of the executive team and representatives from different departments, as sustainability is integrated into every aspect of our organisation. The task forces are chaired by the Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs.

The environmental task force mainly deals with the more ‘technical’ side of sustainability, i.e. the goals related to our production and feed and their impact on the environment and surroundings.
The social & governance task force focuses on social issues and will formulate goals for them.

Both task forces report to a steering committee consisting of Pieter Wolleswinkel (CEO), Rob Kiers (COO), Marloes Roetgerink (CFO) and Ilse Niehof-Duivelshof (Corporate Affairs Director). The aim is to review implementation progress, identify gaps and initiate additional actions where necessary, in addition to setting targets.

Sustainability development goals

Our sustainability approach is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals focus on ending poverty, protecting the earth and promoting prosperity for all.
