Various ForFarmers sites have recently been fitted with insect hotels. This initiative is the work of the UNITED working group, which, as part of our ESG approach, brings the 'S' in Social to life. The group connects colleagues and turns ideas into tangible actions that benefit our organisation and society.
The BE(E) HAPPY WITH FORFARMERS campaign is a prime example of this approach. This initiative falls under the theme of social engagement, which is one of UNITED's three focus areas. The aim of this campaign? To raise awareness of biodiversity at our sites and give something back to nature. All ForFarmers sites with gardens or strips of land where mixed flower seeds have been sown will be fitted with an insect hotel.
The first steps have now been taken. The first insect hotels have been installed in locations including Delden, Heijen and Lochem (at our Reudink site and the demonstration field).
Through these relatively small initiatives, we can work together to make a positive contribution to our environment. These structures provide a place for beneficial insects to shelter and nest, thereby helping to increase biodiversity around our sites. This demonstrates that sustainability is about more than grand plans; it's also about the concrete steps we can take together.
